Let’s face it, it’s easier to keep one big resolution rather than several smaller ones. That’s why you might want to bump planning a custom bathroom remodel to the top of your list for 2020. Whether you’ve been thinking about swapping out the dated tile, updating your fixtures, enlarging the shower or doing a complete remodel, tell yourself that this is the year you will finally make it happen. And we can’t wait to come along for the ride!
The key to successful goal-setting is not to be hasty when you do it. The most action-worthy resolutions are usually the ones you’ve thought through and are willing to dedicate your time and energy to. Whatever you do, don’t make a resolution on the fly after too many toasts on New Year’s Eve. If you’re not totally committed to your goal, the odds of staying motivated are not in your favor.
So now your resolution ‘list’ has one single goal: Remodel the Bathroom. You’ve been putting things off, making do with that tiny shower, putting up with that ugly green tile. It’s time to bite the bullet and call in the professionals who can help you research, plan, design and create a custom bathroom you love with the features you’ve longed for.
Creating a custom bathroom is a big step, that’s why you need a partner you know and trust. For more than 20 years, our family-owned and managed business has been faithfully serving the greater Columbus area with beautiful results.
Whether it’s a tub-to-shower conversion, adding a soaking tub, remodeling a stuck-in-the-80’s powder room, or doing a complete master bath remodel, your project can be smooth, affordable and completed in as little as a day or two depending on size and scope.
It all starts with our easy custom bathroom remodel 5-step process:
5-star reviews – 406 customers can’t be wrong!
We’re proud of the work we do and we invite you to look at our reviews. We’re also proud of those 4 and 5-star ratings that show a vote of customer confidence about the quality of our work and the way we do business every day.
With virtually hundreds of choices, you’ll want a partner you can trust to help you make all the right decisions. One who has seen (and done!) it all when it comes to creating a luxury custom bath that expresses who you are and how you live.
Are you all about function? Think about enlarging the shower, modernizing the tile, changing out the countertops and adding niches, drawers and cubbies for plenty of storage.
Love a spa-like vibe? Think about a decadent soaking tub, stunning vessel sinks, luxurious lighting and a spa-like multi-jet shower showcased by a gorgeous mosaic tile accent wall.
Concerned about safety? Think about converting a shower to a tub, or a tub to a shower. We do a lot of walk-in tubs as well – the perfect solution for aging in place. You might want to think about grab bars, hi-rise toilets and other safety features to make your new bath work for your specific needs and situation.
If you can dream it… we can do it! It all starts with a visit to our showroom where you’ll see beautifully designed vignettes with showers, tubs, tile treatments and storage options. You’ll also be able to compare vanity styles, countertops, tilework, flooring samples and paint colors, right there on the spot, and get a good idea of how things might look when your room comes together.
Our showroom consultant will walk you through the process and help you think through all the details – from function and design, to bath décor selections, to lighting and hardware – all the important niceties and necessities that will turn that resolution for a new luxury bathroom into a beautiful reality in the new year!

It’s that time of year when everybody wants to breathe a little holiday decor into their home. The good news is that you can do this with just a few simple tips and tricks. You don’t have to spend a ton of time or money to give your house that warm and cozy holiday feeling. Here are a few simple tips to get you started.
To help you narrow down on decorations, choose a theme that you love. Not only will this give your home more flow, but it’ll make the decorating process a little less hectic. Consider what you love most about the holiday season and then incorporate that into each and every room.
Sometimes, people try to decorate around their normal everyday décor. However, you may need to pack it up for a couple of months to make room for your seasonal items. If you try to decorate around the existing décor, it may end up looking and feeling unorganized or cluttered.
Red and green are certainly holiday decor favorites, but don’t be afraid to play up your space with other colors. This time of year can easily incorporate other color schemes such as blue and silver or even loud, vibrant colors. Choose colors that suit your personality and help you get into the holiday spirit.
Candy is one of the easiest (and most delicious!) ways to incorporate holiday decor into the season. You can fill various holiday bowls with your favorite treats or use candy to make arts and crafts you can display. Candy canes are always a holiday favorite for many people.
Holiday music can bring it all together! If you’re having a gathering, don’t underestimate the benefits of a quality holiday song. Choose a few of your favorites and play them quietly in the background at your next social gathering.
A wreath is the first thing that people will see as they approach your home. The wreath can be a simple store-bought one, or if you’re the creative type, then you can make your own! Use pops of holiday colors to bring it all together. You can focus just on weaving in green and red, or you choose your favorite holiday character. Try to stick to a theme that matches the décor inside.
You don’t necessarily need to buy new holiday décor every single year. Instead, choose a theme and add to it periodically. You may also have everyday items that can be pulled out and put on display. For instance, the red mixing bowl that your grandmother gave you may now be a festive candy bowl that you can leave out during the holiday season.
The fireplace is a great focal point of any room. You can add poinsettias and sprigs of greenery to the mantle for a quick holiday pick-me-up. The fireplace is also a great area to display your favorite holiday knick-knacks for everybody to see and enjoy.
Pine cones are an excellent addition to any holiday decor scheme. It’s an easy way to incorporate a bit of nature without overwhelming the space. You could add a few to your holiday wreath or just place them in a decorative bowl. It’s really that simple!
Be mindful of the fragrances you use this time of year. Choose scents such as pine, cinnamon, or clove to help create the ambiance you are looking for.
Don’t forget to add a little something to your light fixtures! This is an excellent opportunity to incorporate garland and holly in a subtle yet effective way.
While the mailbox isn’t inside the home, it certainly adds to the overall feel of it. Add a bit of garland or even a string of lights to your mailbox to bring a little more holiday cheer to the outside of your home.
You don’t have to go overboard with holiday decor. Instead, keep it simple by incorporating a few holiday-inspired touches throughout your space. Reuse, recycle and revamp as many products as you can to save some valuable time and money.
The holidays mean that your home is likely to have a lot of company. This may be the perfect time to consider a remodel of the space that gets frequented the most: the bathroom. Adding a little more storage space or updating the look will go one step further in making the most of your holiday décor.
If you’re considering an update to your space, get in touch with us at Columbus Bath Design. We’re more than happy to help you create a space that you can enjoy all year long! Give us a call at (614) 907-4558 to get started.
The holidays bring people together. It’s the time of year that you can enjoy the company of your family and friends as you celebrate this joyful season. That means that it’s time to deep clean every nook and cranny of your bathroom! After all, you want to make sure the space is sparkling clean and ready for use.
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Don’t worry; we have a few simple reminders to help you achieve a perfectly cleaned bathroom that your guests will appreciate. To kickstart the deep clean, let’s take a look at how you can get the space ready for your next holiday party.
Remove all clutter from the area. If you have small children, this means removing their toys and toilet bowl attachments out of sight. Remove all laundry, unnecessary items on the sink, and of course, any trash or debris that may be lying around. You want the space to look as clutter-free as possible.
We don’t mean just to wash your clothing. This is also the time that you should take down and launder shower and window curtains and any washable rugs. Doing so will make your space look and smell great! Keep in mind; you should add fresh linens so that your guests may dry their hands after using the restroom.
You want every space to be sparkling clean. Start by wiping down the windows, shower doors, and mirrors. These spaces are usually covered in fingerprints and smudges, so wiping them down will give the space an instant facelift.
Make sure that the counters and all fixtures are thoroughly cleaned. You may want to polish your fixtures to give them an even cleaner shine and that deep clean feeling.
Floors should be scrubbed thoroughly. Be mindful of corners as well as baseboards. You’ll want to be sure to wipe down these areas by hand, as most cleaning products will not get to these areas adequately. Doing a little more work will have a huge pay off in the end.
Make sure that the toilet bowl is completely clean—this means no water stains! Take a moment to wipe down the outside and the base of the toilet to ensure that the entire bowl is cleaned.
Make sure that your bathtub doesn’t have any toys or used washrags sitting around the edges. Clean the tub thoroughly and make sure that there is no hard-water build up around the drain. Speaking of drains, you should take a moment to clean out the drain of any debris.
Bathrooms can become somewhat of a “catch-all” in some homes. If this sounds like you, take a moment to remove any items that aren’t necessary. You may also want to put away some items that are too personal such as toothbrushes, hairbrushes, and other sensitive items that you may not want to be displayed.
You can make the space feel even fresher by adding in a toilet bowl fragrance, spritzing the area with a holiday scent, and making sure that all of the trash bins have fresh bags.
During the holiday season, you want to be sure that you have prepared the bathroom for guests. You may want to have extra soap, lotion, and toilet paper available. Make sure you incorporate adequate storage so that these extra items are easily accessible, but not out in plain sight. This will help the space look tidy and fully stocked for guests.
One of the best cleaning products you can possibly use is just regular vinegar. Vinegar can tackle harsh build-up and can make cleaning a breeze. A simple mixture of 1:1 vinegar and water and you can clean your entire bathroom essentially with this one concoction. It simplifies the process without sacrificing quality cleaning. Plus, you won’t have to worry about the space smelling like harsh chemicals. It’s certainly a simple approach to cleaning that many of us can appreciate.
There are many small touches you can do to make your space feel welcoming. You can add in some greenery, have artisan soaps available for use, and even add little pops of holiday décor. Doing so will make your space feel even warmer and more inviting.
At Columbus Bath Design, we are always looking out for our customers. We want to help you get your space holiday and guest-ready by incorporating a quality cleaning strategy that works. If you want to do even more with your space, reach out to us to schedule a design consultation. We are happy to answer your questions and walk you through various design options. Everybody deserves their own little slice of heaven. For many people, there’s nothing quite like having a beautifully revamped dream bathroom where they can relax, unwind, and leave their worries behind. If you’re interested in updating or totally remodeling your bathroom, then you’ve come to the right place. Whether your style is modern and chic or comfortable and cozy—Columbus Bath Design can help you design the bathroom you’ve always wanted.
There are a few key areas you should focus on if you’re interested in a bathroom update or remodel. We understand the process can feel complex. That’s why we’re here to help you every step of the way. Let’s kick this off by starting with some of the key considerations you should keep in mind as you move throughout the design process.
First, consider what your dream bathroom looks like to you. This part of the process requires a little creativity. You’ll want to start by considering the ambiance you would like to create. Perhaps you want a spa-like feel, or you prefer something simpler that is more geared toward functionality. Even if you aren’t sure of the proper design terms, you can start by looking at pictures and discussing what you like or don’t like about each design aspect. As you make these decisions, you’ll quickly realize that you have a design concept that you prefer.
Starting a bathroom remodel can feel overwhelming. After all, there are so many choices! However, it’s best to start with the basics. You can narrow in on your design by simply beginning with the color scheme. While the color of the space may feel like a fundamental decision (and it is!), it can go a long way in helping you narrow down which fixtures and décor will enhance the space. Perhaps you prefer something bright and welcoming, or maybe you like something calm and tranquil—that one decision about color will get you on the path toward designing your perfect bathroom!
While it’s certainly essential to understand that trends come and go, you also want to be aware of the hottest designs in the market. Right now, we see a lot of combinational bathrooms with soaker tubs and walk-in showers. People want the best of both worlds, so often, if there is enough space for both, then that is what we do!
There are primarily two broad design choices that people lean towards: minimal or functional. Of course, there is a lot of room for customization in each category. Minimal designs focus more on keeping the space open and modern. Functional designs tend to be more focused on how space can be easily used and comfortable.
Products and accessories can go a long way towards bringing a design scheme to life. The fun part of the design process is when we bring together tile choice, lighting fixtures, faucets, and all the other finer details. The best part about it? You can take things you like from different designs and bring them together in a way that makes sense for you and your space.
The critical thing to remember is that this space should be designed for the people who live in it. While trends can certainly be a great point of inspiration, the process is all about personalizing the space so that you feel the most comfortable in it.
The hottest trend in any kind of design project these days is just how much it focuses on the personality of the customer. Your preferences should be apparent through every step of the process. While we can help you hone in on colors and products that will make the most of the space, your style should be at the forefront of the design. We will help you get there!
No matter the design you choose, make sure that functionality is part of it. You’ll want to be sure that your space has plenty of usable storage and that the flow of the room makes sense. Using different types of baskets, totes, or bins can really bring the space together.
Everything from tub size to faucet design can play a critical role in how you use your bathroom. Giving some thought to the finer details can go a long way in ensuring that the space is the most comfortable and useful space possible.

Choosing the perfect accessories for any room in the house is never an easy task. If you’ve already got the perfect fixtures and appliances, how do you decorate to really bring attention to them? Choosing the perfect bathroom accessories doesn’t have to be hard.
You can start by asking yourself the following questions:
Bathrooms are often smaller than other rooms in the home, so sometimes choosing the right accessories can be difficult. Focus on must-have accessories. Think about the things you really need to have on-hand, and make these accessories as beautiful as possible. These can be small things like soap dispensers or dishes for must-have products like cotton buds.
Accessories should also be convenient and can apply to small items of furniture. For example, a bathroom chair for longer makeup sessions, or a small stool for the kids to be able to reach the sink and learn how to brush their teeth are pieces of furniture that also double as accessories. Small tables for bath time can also be useful — to put your book on, a glass of wine, or a candle for the perfect relaxation station after a long day. Think about your lifestyle, your layout and the space available, and how your bathroom can best fit your needs.
If you have a small bathroom, you should turn your functional accessories into style pieces. This will avoid the space feeling cluttered, and will make it feel bigger and more zen. You could store your towels in different imaginative ways, like in a basket or rolled up on a wall shelf.
When planning accessories for your bathroom, the general principle is less is more. But this sometimes means people hide away their favorite products, rather than keeping them on show. If the packaging is pretty then don’t feel like you have to hide it away! Create a mood board, think about the style you are aiming for, and consider whether the packaging for this item fits in with it.
Not all of your products in the bathroom need to be hidden — many have interesting and beautiful packaging that can actually add to the interior design of your bathroom. If you don’t like any of your packaging in the bathroom, invest in some quality soaps that have pretty packaging. They’re not all that expensive, and the simple design can make your bathroom feel even more classy and indulgent.
Really consider the design of your bathroom before you start thinking about your accessories. Make sure your accessories fit with your color palette and style. For example, if you’re aiming for a modern Scandinavian look, don’t include an antique Iranian jar. Or if you want your bathroom to feel like a spa for you to relax in after a hard day at work, think about adorning your space with candles or air purifying plants that make you feel at peace. The most important thing is that you decide on a theme and stick to it. Also the same goes for when you’re thinking about your lighting: it needs to be practical, highlight the features of your bathroom, and fit your style.
Bad designs don’t accurately reflect the people who live in them. Your bathroom should reflect you, your tastes and your favorite things. Bring your personality and likes and dislikes in to personalize the space. If you love the beach, theme it around this, or if you feel relaxed in a forest, bring in lots of houseplants and paint the walls green. Make your own safe haven, personalized to you!
Also, think about what accessories make you feel comfortable. Is it when you come out of the shower and put on that plush bathrobe? Then don’t hide it away! That’s what brings you the most happiness out of the functional items in the room, so that is what should be displayed and attention drawn to. Surround yourself only with items that bring you happiness, and show them in a way that celebrates them!
There are many different storage accessories to choose from on the market, from trunks to ceramic containers, wicker baskets to plant pots. There are many different styles and colors, so make sure to choose ones that work with your color scheme, and get only products that work in that color range. For example, a great idea for a simplistic look is just using wicker and white ceramic storage containers. Everything in your bathroom will work in tandem, without being too matchy-matchy as everything serves its own function. You can store them on counter surfaces, or stack them on the floor.
A cool, modern idea is to lean an old step ladder or get a storage unit shaped like a step ladder, to organize all your storage boxes, towels, and ornamental accessories. For items that are harder to find, and you need to use every day, like cotton wool, consider using glass containers. These items aren’t too ugly, so don’t need to be hidden away. If your bathroom is truly tiny, consider putting the surplus product in another room or storage space, and just refilling these storage containers when needed — then the large items won’t take up vital bathroom space, and you’ll be left surrounded by only beautiful things!

Going back to school can be a stressful time. There’s so much to prepare in all of your family’s life, like new clothes and school supplies. Your bathroom should remain your oasis of peace in the evenings, and the clean, fresh awakening in the mornings to get your kids up and out! So we’ve compiled our top tips for getting your bathroom ready for back to school time, making the space feel bigger and better organized, and making it easier to manage multiple people in and out in the mornings.
Over the summer, the first thing you can do is clear out anything old or unused from your bathroom — and all over your house! Getting old items out of your hair is the first step to a more stress-free lifestyle, opening up your time from finding things and stressing, to worrying about the more important things in life, like encouraging your children in their schoolwork! Homework, papers, coats, and backpacks might pile up, but make sure you have designated laundry baskets in the bathroom so everyone knows where their items go — whether it be sweaty sports clothes or used towels. This will help you when you’re cleaning and doing the laundry, and will help keep your bathroom clean and tidy throughout the year.
Everything should always have its own place, and everyone should know where that designated place is, meaning that the whole family can help you keep on top of everything. The kids can even have their own designated baskets, toothbrush holders, towels, etc. to help encourage them to learn how to tidy, and keep this habit up throughout the school year! This means it will be quicker to get ready with the kids in the mornings too, as you’ll never have to spend time looking for things, and they’ll be able to find and use their own stuff easily when they’re older.
Get a wicker basket or storage space to hold books to read to your kids in the bath. If you read to or with your children throughout the summer, it will help get them ready for going back to school. Awaken their imagination, and teach them new vocabulary! Kids whose parents read to them are far more likely to succeed in school; bath time might be just the time to do it – if they’re not too excited!
When the craziness of school starts, it’s nice to plan some family time — if they’re young enough, a bath together could do the trick. Some games to play in the bath which are educational are useful too, or invent some games with the toys they already have! Toys could be stored in the bathroom in a bag, so your child can keep it in their room. That way they won’t be distracted with things that remind them of playtime when they’re getting ready for school in the bathroom.
Whenever you’re designing or re-thinking the layout of a room, it’s essential that you think of how you and your family members use it at different times during the week and year. Remember how you felt at back to school time last year, and let it influence your decisions. Did you all crowd around each other last year, stressed out in the mornings, trying to find something? If so, maybe think about clearly labeling your boxes or storage containers with labels in an attractive font.
Maybe getting ready for back to school last year was a really stressful time for you. Remember to take time for yourself and relax. A simple, chic, well-designed bathroom will help you to switch off and recharge your batteries. Make sure you’ve planned in all your appointments, after school meetings, parents’ evenings, clubs and hobbies on a calendar, so you know you have a solid plan for the future. And then relax!
For a family bathroom, it’s recommended to get large multipurpose cabinets, as your bathroom has to do so many things for so many people. However, if you’ve already designed your bathroom, and you’re looking to diversify your storage options, there are many extra things you can add to your bathroom to better utilize the space. Think about investing in drawer dividers, extra storage, such as wall or corner shelves, and extra hooks on the walls – maybe one for each member of the family!
If you’re struggling to fit everyone in the bathroom in the morning, work out a schedule, so everyone gets enough time before you all have to leave. Instead of a stressed, last-minute morning, have a planned, relaxed, fun one! Layout the breakfast table before you sleep, make sure everyone’s towel and supplies are ready in the bathroom, make sure your children’s clothes are clean and laid out in their bedroom to come back to after their morning wash.

It can be hard to decide on a design that works for all members of your family, not to mention any guests or visitors you may have along the way! A great family bathroom evolves and grows too alongside your family. Therefore, from the beginning of your redecoration process, you need a design that can adapt. All fittings in the family bathroom should be low maintenance and durable. You need the right fittings, fixtures, and finishes — and then your bathroom can truly adapt for a growing family, all of your guests, and your personal needs. We at Columbus Bath Design can help you find a simple design with lots of storage that’s elegant but also durable. We’ll help you create a perfect bathroom for both play-time in the bath with your young ones, and an oasis of peace for you when you want a little peace and quiet.
So how can I create more space for all of the members of my family?
We recommend that when designing your bathroom for a family, including a large amount of storage space. Maybe choose a combination unit with plenty of built-in storage. You could also add wall hanging units, corner shelves, storage at the end of the bath or niches in the walls of showers to give you that extra storage where none existed before — keeping your bathroom streamlined and making it feel bigger!
Firstly, not all of the possessions we keep in our bathroom actually need to be here. Think about stealing space in other parts of your house — for example, bedrooms, storage cupboards, etc – for anything you don’t definitely need to store in the bathroom. This could include duplicates, medicines or spare towels.
Here are some chicer, tried and tested ways to bring extra storage space to your bathroom:
Multiple hanging bars or racks, with some, placed lower down so your kids can reach them. This is also a great way to introduce tidying to your family. If each person knows where everything goes and can access it, they’re more likely to be interested in the tidying process and help you in the future. It’s a win-win! You could think about adding these extra hooks on the inside of the bathroom door, to keep the space feeling uncluttered and minimalist.
Also, think about investing in a stool so that the kids can reach everything they need like the sink, getting into the bath or reaching higher up cabinets. You could get a stool that folds away, but if you’re worried about it not being stable enough, think about creating enough storage in your under-sink cabinet that you can store a stool there.
A great way to make your bathroom work for the whole family is to give each member their own area. This leaves the tidying responsibility to them, and wipes out the possibility of anyone fighting over whose towel is theirs! Here are some ways you can divide up your bathroom for all your family members:
Lots of people might think that replacing a bath with a shower is the perfect way to save space in a family bathroom. But multiple members of the family can have a bath, it’s fun, and can bring everyone together. It also means the house will be easier to re-sell if you’re considering that in the future. If you’re tight on space you could have a shower over the bath for the best of both worlds. Or if you’re working with even less space, think of ways to make the shower more fun, including toys and games for the little ones.

Bathroom organization might seem like it’s not important, especially when you have so many other things to organize in your life. But with just a bit of planning, and by following some of our organizational life-hacks, your bathroom might just become your new favorite room in the house!
Whether you’re getting the kids ready for school at the beginning of the day, or getting ready for a date or a night of fun, bathrooms can be a stressful place. But a fully organized bathroom, with clean surfaces and a chic design, will become your oasis of peace. Your bathroom should be the place where you come home at the end of a long day, run a bath, and let the cobwebs wash off you.
Marie Kondo, the tidying guru, teaches us that all of our objects and possessions should have a place and should bring us joy. If you know where everything is, it keeps your things looking organized, and makes your bathroom experience stress free — erasing the unnecessary time you spend looking for things. Having a well-organized bathroom can reduce your stress at the beginning of the day, doesn’t look cluttered, and can even bring the family together if everyone knows how to play their part!
The first step is to declutter. So many of us keep unnecessary objects around us, which can make our lives feel busy and lead to unnecessary stress. When going about reorganizing your bathroom, try to cut your belongings here by half. Many of us keep ahold of bottles with not much left in them, old medications, decorations, and the list goes on. Get rid of everything unnecessary like this, and we promise you’ll feel a weight off your shoulders!
Decluttering doesn’t mean you get rid of the things you need for daily life. All of these things will find their own home, but that’s the next step. In the decluttering process, think about moving things like duplicates to another room or storage space. Many people keep their medications in the bathroom, but did you know that many medications actually suffer from the humidity?! How about keeping them in the kitchen or in your bedroom, away from any kids, to streamline your bathroom experience? In a clearly labeled box, you’ll never forget where they are, and we think you might even find it easier to organize and find what you’re looking for this way.
It is important to think at this stage of how you use the space in your bathroom. For putting on makeup? For doing your hair? For playing with toys with your kids in the bath? Each space you organize in your bathroom should have its own function, so you always know where you need to look for something. For example, consider having a hair station, or box, which contains all of your hair care products and brushes. Remember to organize your bathroom space by function so it fits in with your lifestyle.
Here are a few extra recommendations which you could try if you want to make your bathroom feel bigger and less cluttered:
Keeping your bathroom a safe-haven isn’t as difficult as you might think. With all that clutter gone and each item having its own place, now you just need to remember to put it back where it belongs! The whole family can help you with this, especially if each member has their own designated spot, bag or basket. No one has time to do a deep clean of the bathroom every day, but keeping the counters clutter-free, and wiping them and the sinks once a day can make a huge difference.
